Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (“RPRA”) maintains this website, (the “Site”) to help the public find information about RPRA, its programs and its services. RPRA is committed to ensuring your privacy while you visit. This Privacy Policy sets forth the privacy policy pertaining to this Site. By using this Site, you are agreeing to the terms set forth in this Privacy Policy. The Privacy Policy and the Terms of Use were developed to ensure that you are comfortable that in all your dealings with the Site your Personal Information is secure and will be treated in a confidential manner. When used herein, “Personal Information” means information about an identifiable individual as that term is used and defined in applicable private sector privacy protection legislation, including without limitation, name, address, postal code, phone number, email address and other information provided by you in connection with the Purpose set out below. 

Collection and Use of Personal Information 

RPRA collects Personal Information only when you voluntarily submit this information to us. When you submit a question or comment, submit User-generated content to the Site, or register to receive newsletters and other information from RPRA, you may be asked for your name, e-mail address or other information. Your voluntary submission of Personal Information constitutes consent to its collection, use and disclosure for the sole purposes of processing and responding to your question, allowing you to submit User generated content and/or to receive newsletters and other information from RPRA (the “Purpose”). RPRA will maintain all Personal Information as confidential, and will use such Personal Information only for the Purpose. While RPRA’s policy is not to disclose your Personal Information except to authorized personnel who require it in order to fulfill any actions related to the Purpose, RPRA may be required to disclose your Personal Information in the following circumstances:  (i)  to ensure compliance with this policy, our terms of use, and any other agreement which we may have with you ; (ii) to protect your rights and the rights and safety of others; (iii) where required to comply with a statutory requirement, valid court order, warrant or other valid law enforcement purpose;  (iv) to comply with a request by you or your agents, representatives, successors and assigns.  When providing information in response to a legal inquiry or order, we will verify its validity and only disclose Personal Information that is legally required. 

Any User-generated Content which includes Personal Information which you submit to the Site may be seen by the public. Third parties may be able to access your Personal Information and contact you using the Site. 

The Personal Information you submit is secure once it reaches RPRA’s server. In transit between your computer and RPRA’s server however it may not be secure. If you would prefer to raise a comment or question in person, please contact RPRA at 


For each visitor to the Site, RPRA’s web servers automatically recognize information regarding the visitor’s domain name (or that of the visitor’s access provider). Except as required by law, RPRA will not sell, rent, transfer, or share your Personal Information with any third parties. RPRA will collect only such Personal Information as may be required to fulfill the Purpose and will retain the information only for so long as needed to fulfill the Purposes set out above.  

RPRA uses technology to track the patterns of behaviour of visitors to our Site. This can include using a "cookie" which would be stored on your browser. "Cookies" are not used to identify individuals or to retrieve information from a visitor's computer other than certain non-Personal Information including: 

  • the date and time the visitor accesses the Site; 
  • the pages visited; 
  • the browser type and operating system being used; and 
  • referring pages, path through site, domain of the Internet Service Provider (ISP), etc. 

Please ensure that your computer setting reflects whether you agree to accept cookies or not. RPRA keeps all the information collected from cookies in a non-personally identifiable format.  This information is not used to identify individuals, however is solely used in a collective format to perform analysis of the characteristics and behaviours of users.  Once your user session is cancelled, the information contained in the cookie is no longer available to RPRA. 


RPRA will keep your Personal Information as accurate, complete and up-to-date as necessary for the identified Purposes for which it was collected. We encourage you to let us know if your Personal Information changes. 

We protect Personal Information in our possession and control by using industry standard security safeguards including: 

  • encryption and passwords 
  • employee confidentiality agreements and security clearances 
  • locked cabinets and restricted office access. 

Our servers are protected by a firewall and are only accessible by authorized users using a password.  

RPRA does not knowingly collect Personal Information from children under the age of 13. Children and young people under 13 must obtain permission from their parent or guardian before they submit personal data to the RPRA web site. 

RPRA may offer links to third party websites which are not covered by our Privacy Policy and which are governed by other policies and terms of use. RPRA has not reviewed these websites or any of their policies or terms of use. RPRA makes no representation or endorsement whatsoever respecting any of these third party websites, their content or privacy policies.  RPRA recommends that you review their privacy policies and terms of use before using these websites and before submitting any Personal Information. 


RPRA reserves the right, at its discretion, to change, modify, add, or remove portions of this Privacy Policy at any time. You should check this page periodically for changes. Your continued use of this Site following the posting of changes to this Privacy Policy will mean that you accept those changes. 

Subject to exceptions as permitted by law and subject to your written request, RPRA will inform you of the existence, use and disclosure of your Personal Information and give you access to that information.
