About resource recovery
Businesses that supply Blue Box materials into Ontario are required to meet resource recovery requirements as outlined in the Blue Box Regulation. By law, Blue Box producers must report every year on the weight of Blue Box materials they supply into Ontario, and how they met the resource recovery requirements.
For more information about resource recovery and Ontario’s recycling laws, visit our information section on the circular economy.
Supply, resource recovery requirements and deductions
The annual supply of Blue Box material is reported by producers to RPRA one year after it was supplied (e.g., 2025 supply weight is reported to RPRA in 202).
The below dates represent the years that supply data was reported to RPRA.
Collection
The weight of collected Blue Box materials is reported by PROs to RPRA the year after it was collected (e.g., materials collected in 2024 are reported to RPRA in 2025).
The date below represents the year in which materials were collected and processed.
