Supply and recovery of lighting in Ontario
This page is updated annually with the most accurate registry data RPRA has available to publish and the data is subject to change. Published reports do not contain commercially sensitive information.
Note: This page will be updated with visualizations and new metrics over time, as RPRA continues to expand and enhance its public reporting.
About resource recovery
Businesses that supply lighting into Ontario are required to meet resource recovery requirements as outlined in the Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulation. By law, lighting producers must report every year on the weight of lighting they supply into Ontario, and how they met the resource recovery requirements.

Supply and resource recovery requirements
The annual supply of lighting is reported by producers to RPRA two years after it was supplied (e.g., 2024 supply weight is reported to RPRA in 2026).
Note: The Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) Regulation was amended in 2025, and as of January 1, 2025, no longer provides for resource recovery requirement reductions for recycled content. Reductions reported in previous years remain in the historical data.
The dates below represent the years that supply data was reported to RPRA.
Recovery
The EEE Regulation requires lighting producers to make “best efforts” to meet the recovery rate requirements in 2023, 2024, 2025 and 2026. From 2027 on, the “best efforts” provision in the regulation is no longer in effect.
The weight of lighting recovered is reported by producers, or PROs on their behalf, to RPRA the year after it was recovered (e.g., materials recovered in 2025 are reported to RPRA in 2026).
The dates below represent the years in which materials were recovered.
