The Understanding your Requirements as a Lighting Producer Learning Series Events were designed to help lighting stakeholders affected by the Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) Regulation understand and meet their obligations, and participate in the new market for recycling, reusing and refurbishing of lighting. In September 2020, the Government of Ontario released the EEE Regulation, however, lighting requirements came into effect on January 1, 2023.

On August 24, 2022, Pam Castillo, RPRA’s Compliance and Service Delivery Manager, hosted a webinar to support lighting producers with understanding their upcoming requirements under the EEE Regulation that come into effect January 1, 2023. Topics included:

  • how to determine if you are an obligated producer
  • what lighting products must be reported to rpra
  • how to determine the weight of lighting supplied
  • registration and reporting requirements
  • working with producer responsibility organizations (PROs)
