2023 Blue Box, HSP and lighting resource recovery data now posted

Resource recovery data for the Blue Box, hazardous and special products (HSP) and lighting programs, is now posted on the Resource Recovery Reports webpage, along with a downloadable Excel file for each program. 

The following data is available on the website:

Blue Box 

  • Materials supplied from 2020 – 2023
  • Resource recovery requirements for 2023 – 2025
  • Materials collected between July 1, 2023, and December 31, 2023, from communities that transitioned to the producer-run Blue Box Program during that time
  • Aggregate percentage of Blue Box material collected that was sent for processing; and aggregate percentage that was sent to landfill

HSP

  • Materials supplied from 2018 – 2023
  • Resource recovery requirements for oil filters and non-refillable pressurized containers from 2021 – 2025 
  • Materials recovered from 2021 – 2023

Lighting

  • Lighting supplied and recovery requirement reductions from 2018 – 2022  
  • Resource recovery requirements for 2023 – 2025  
  • Lighting recovered in 2023 

Supply, collection and recovery data is subject to change due to adjustments to reported tonnage by producers or PROs on their behalf, the addition of new market entrants or free riders brought into compliance, and regulatory changes.
