Director of Transition Appointed
The Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority (the Authority) is pleased to announce the appointment of Geoff Rathbone as Director of Transition effective today.
“Geoff’s extensive and varied career in waste management and recycling, combined with his exemplary managerial and operational skills, will strengthen the Authority’s executive management team and ensure the ongoing effective oversight of the waste diversion programs continued under the Waste Diversion Transition Act, 2016, “ said Frank Denton, CEO of the Authority.
As Director of Transition, Mr. Rathbone will be the operational lead for the Authority’s oversight of existing waste diversion programs and their eventual wind up as responsibility transitions to individual producers under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016.
Since 2015, Mr. Rathbone was Director of Operations with the former Waste Diversion Ontario. More recently, he served as Acting CEO of the Authority. Previously, Mr. Rathbone was Vice President at Progressive Waste Solutions with responsibility for developing recycling and resource recovery across North America, and General Manager of the City of Toronto’s Solid Waste Services division.
“Geoff brings tremendous depth of knowledge about Ontario’s waste management and recycling sector to the position of Director of Transition and we are fortunate to have him take on this new role,” added Mr. Denton.
