RPRA launches consultation on developing RER Calculation and Verification Procedures for Batteries, ITT/AV, Lighting, and HSP
Under the Batteries, Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE), and Hazardous and Special Products (HSP) Regulations, producers, or PROs on their behalf, are required to use registered processors that have met the Recycling Efficiency Rate (RER) requirements to meet producer management requirements.
RPRA has retained Dillon Consulting (Dillon) to develop new RER Calculation and Verification Procedures for batteries, ITT/AV, lighting, and HSP. These procedures will be referenced in 2024 when processors submit an annual report that verifies their RER.
During Phase One of the consultation, Dillon and RPRA will be engaging with PROs and processors of batteries, ITT/AV, lighting, and HSP to gather information about their company’s operations and share preliminary insights. These insights will be taken into consideration during the development of the initial draft of the procedures.
A public webinar will be held later this year during Phase Two of the consultation to review the initial draft of the procedures and gather additional feedback. PROs, processors, and other stakeholders will be invited to participate again at that time.
