Updates to 2023 PRO and producer Blue Box performance reports
Beginning this year, Blue Box producers or producer responsibility organizations (PROs) on their behalf, must report on Blue Box material collected and managed during the previous year (July 1 to December 31, 2023).
To account for the unique challenges that come with reporting this information during the Blue Box transition, we simplified this year’s reporting process and extended the deadline to submit performance reports to July 31, 2024.
If you are a Blue Box producer with a PRO, your report will be submitted on your behalf. To reduce burden in completing the 2023 Performance Report, RPRA is allowing PROs to complete one aggregate report for all their producer clients instead of individual reports for each producer.
If you are a Blue Box producer without a PRO and you have a management requirement, you must submit a performance report by July 31, 2024 containing data on collection and management activities completed through your independently established collection system.
Note: Producers that have not joined the common collection system must have operated an independent or alternative system and should notify RPRA immediately. Inability to provide details of an independent collection system may result in compliance action.
Why did we make changes to the 2023 performance report?
The decision to make changes to this year’s performance reporting process was made in collaboration with the Blue Box PROs to help reduce the burden on producers and PROs. We worked closely with Blue Box PROs to understand important factors, including the type of information that is required to be reported (as outlined in the Blue Box Regulation), and the availability of this type of information.
