China’s 26 million ton textile waste problem

China is the world’s biggest fashion market, with most of the purchases in fast fashion – mass produced, cheap, short-lived garments. The consequence of all of this buying is that China throws away 26 million tons of clothes every year and less than 1% is reused or recycled. Solving this waste problem will require innovative solutions and breaking through the stigma against second-hand clothing.
