The University of Exeter’s “Moving On” initiative invites students leaving their accommodations to donate unwanted items such as clothing, books, and household goods. In 2024, the program achieved a record collection of 4,675 bags, raising £70,125 for the British Heart Foundation. This effort diverted over 35 tonnes of reusable goods from landfills, reducing waste while supporting vital medical research. By integrating sustainability with social impact, the initiative benefits both the environment and the broader community, highlighting the university’s commitment to recycling and waste reduction.
