Furniture manufacturers in Italy work together towards circular economy

A group of leading Italian furniture manufacturers and woodworking companies have formed the Extended Producer Responsibility Consortium to promote a circular economy and sustainability in the furniture industry. Supported by FederlegnoArredo, Italy’s furniture federation, the consortium aims to tackle waste reduction and improve recycling of end-of-life products. With 15 member companies generating a collective €2 billion (close to $3 billion CAD) in annual sales, the initiative seeks to create a system that extends the life of products through reuse and valorization. Claudio Feltrin, president of FederlegnoArredo, emphasized the consortium’s role in accelerating the sector’s sustainability goals, while Salone Del Mobile Milano President Maria Porro highlighted the industry’s commitment to adopting a circular production model.
