German startup begins building Europe’s largest electric vehicle battery recycling plant in Düsseldorf

German startup Cylib has launched its first large-scale battery recycling plant in Chempark, Düsseldorf. Scheduled to begin operations in 2026, the plant will recycle 30,000 tons of EV batteries annually, significantly surpassing Europe’s current largest facility. Cylib’s recycling process recovers all critical materials from batteries, including lithium, cobalt, and nickel, and uses 30% less energy compared to competitors.
