Oaxacan engineer upcycles tequila distillation byproducts into housing

Martha Jimenez Cardoso of raw material and energy solutions company Green Loop is using waste from the tequila making process to create adobe-style bricks for sustainable housing in nearby Oaxacan communities. The process combines bagasse (fibrous pulp) and vinasse (a liquid waste left behind from distilling alcohol) to make a mud that is molded into brick shapes and cured in the outside heat.
