Ontario Brewery recognized for sustainability efforts
Bench Brewery, located in Lincoln, Ontario has won the Sustainability Initiative award at the Canadian Brewers Choice Awards for their sustainability efforts. Bench reduces its environmental footprint by recycling 100% of its brewing wastewater and using residual organics from the water treatment as fertilizer and spent grains to use as livestock feed for local farmers. Upwards of 30,000 litres a day are reused for purposes such as irrigating the brewery’s hops field or providing irrigation for neighbouring farms. Read more.
