Tire recycling initiative will transform end-of-life tires – supporting the circular economy

Klean Industries Inc. has signed an MOU with Viva Energy Australia to develop a tire recycling facility in Melbourne capable of processing 80,000 tonnes of end-of-life tires annually. The facility will produce recovered carbon black, steel, and biogenic pyrolysis oil, contributing to sustainability and lower-carbon fuel production. Viva Energy will test Klean’s pyrolysis oil at its Geelong Refinery, marking a step toward integrating alternative feedstocks like soft plastics and used cooking oil. The initiative supports Australia’s circular economy, reduces landfill waste, and strengthens local industry. Both companies emphasize the project’s environmental and economic benefits.
