Revised deadlines for tires eligible for OTS incentives
To ensure the flow of used tires during the wind up of the Used Tires Program operated by Ontario Tire Stewardship (OTS) and the transition to the new regulatory framework beginning in 2019, the Authority has changed the deadlines in the Wind-Up Plan for collectors, haulers and processors to be eligible for incentives. Below is a summary of the new deadlines.
Collectors:
Any tires at a collection site that are picked up by a hauler by January 25, 2019 are eligible for the OTS Collection Allowance (CA), provided that the tires are not being counted towards a producer’s 2019 target. Any tires not picked up by January 25, 2019 are eligible to be counted by producers towards their 2019 targets.
Haulers:
Any tires delivered by a hauler to a processor by February 28, 2019 are eligible for the OTS Transportation Incentive (TI), provided that the tires were picked up by January 25, 2019 from a collector and are not being counted towards a producer’s 2019 target. Any tires not delivered to a processor by February 28, 2019 are eligible to be counted by producers towards their 2019 targets.
Processors:
Tire inventory held by a processor as of December 31, 2018 and any tires received from haulers by February 28, 2019 and processed by March 31, 2019 are eligible for the OTS Processing Incentive (PI), provided that the tires were picked up by January 25, 2019 from a collector and are not being counted towards a producer’s 2019 target. Any tires received by February 28, 2019 but not processed by March 31, 2019 are eligible to be counted by producers towards their 2019 targets.
