Stewardship Ontario begins consultations on wind up of the MHSW Program
On April 2, 2019, Stewardship Ontario (SO) will hold two webinar consultations on the development of its plan to wind up the Municipal Hazardous or Special Waste (MHSW) Program. SO must submit a wind-up plan to the Authority for approval by June 30, 2019. Register for a consultation.
In April 2018, the Minister of the Environment and Climate Change directed SO to wind up the MHSW Program on December 31, 2020. Hazardous or special waste will be transitioned to individual producer responsibility (IPR) and the Authority will be responsible for overseeing IPR requirements for hazardous or special waste.
