Stewardship Ontario submits wind-up plan to the Authority
Stewardship Ontario has submitted its proposed wind-up plan for the Municipal Hazardous or Special Waste (MHSW) Program to the Resource Productivity and Recovery Authority, meeting the deadline set by the Ontario government.
In April 2018, the then Minister of the Environment and Climate Change directed Stewardship Ontario to wind up the MHSW Program on December 31, 2020. On December 11, 2018, the Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks amended the timelines for the wind up of single-use batteries to June 30, 2020.
Stewardship Ontario was required to develop a wind-up plan and submit it to the Authority by June 30, 2019 as part of the Minister’s direction. The Authority is currently reviewing the proposed wind-up plan.
