Have your say on proposed regulatory and program changes to digital reporting services for the Hazardous Waste Program
The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks is seeking feedback on a discussion paper that outlines proposed changes to modernize and transition digital reporting services for industrial hazardous waste to the Resource Productivity & Recovery Authority.
The proposed changes aim to make reporting simpler and more cost-effective for the regulated community while creating better oversight of hazardous waste management in the province by providing more timely and accurate information to the ministry. They include proposed changes to Regulation 347 and the Registration Guidance Manual for Generators of Liquid Industrial and Hazardous Waste. The discussion paper also proposes changes related to:
- registration & payment
- tracking & reporting
- transition planning that would support the implementation of digital reporting services
The discussion paper has been posted to the Environmental Registry (https://ero.ontario.ca/notice/019-1760) for a 60-day comment period, from June 19, 2020 until August 18, 2020.
If you have any questions regarding the proposal, you can email the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks at: HWINmodernization@ontario.ca.
