Authority launches public consultations on Stewardship Ontario’s proposed Blue Box Program Wind-Up Plan

The Authority is consulting on Stewardship Ontario’s (SO) proposed plan to wind-up the Blue Box Program and transition it to the new individual producer responsibility framework. Between September 30 and November 10, you can review the proposed plan and provide your feedback. View SO’s proposed Wind-Up Plan.

Stewardship Ontario submitted its proposed plan to the Authority by the August 31, 2020 deadline set by the Minister. The Minister also directed the Authority to consult on the plan as part of the review and approval process. It is expected that the Authority must approve the plan no later than December 31, 2020.

The Authority is hosting several webinars and smaller online group discussions to present key elements of the plan, answer any questions you may have and gain your feedback. The sessions are open to all Blue Box Program participants, municipalities, First Nation communities, the public and other interested stakeholders.

The Authority will consider all comments received during the consultation while reviewing the wind-up plan. Stakeholder feedback will be summarized in a consultation report that will be posted to the Authority’s website following the consultation period and wind-up plan approval.
