Government consulting on proposed amendments to the Tires, Batteries and Electrical and Electronic Equipment regulations
The Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks is consulting on proposed amendments to the Tires Regulation (O. Reg. 225/18), the Batteries Regulation (O. Reg. 30/20) and the Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) Regulation (O. Reg. 522/20) made under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016 (RRCEA).
The proposed amendments, if approved, would align certain regulatory obligations across the three regulations. The proposed amendments would also increase the management target for information technology, telecommunications and audio visual equipment under the EEE Regulation. To view the proposed amendments, visit the Environmental Registry of Ontario.
The government is seeking feedback on the proposed amendments from November 26, 2021 to January 10, 2022. To provide feedback, visit the Environmental Registry of Ontario.
In addition, the Ministry will be holding a webinar session on December 15, 2021 from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. to consult on the proposed amendments. If you are interested in attending the webinar, please confirm your participation by emailing RRPB.Mail@ontario.ca. The Ministry will provide further meeting details for those who confirm their participation.
