Stewardship Ontario consulting on simplified steward fee-setting methodology for Blue Box Program transition period
Stewardship Ontario is consulting on a proposal to revise its steward fee-setting methodology for the 2023 to 2025 Blue Box Program transition period.
If approved, the simplified methodology would eliminate the need for stewards to report supply-to-market data to Stewardship Ontario starting next year through the remaining years of the current Blue Box Program. The proposed amendment is outlined in this discussion paper and key questions are answered in this Q&A document.
Stakeholders can submit feedback on the proposal via email to consultation@stewardshipontario.ca until January 13, 2022. Additionally, Stewardship Ontario will be hosting a webinar on January 6, 2022, at 10am EST to gather feedback and answer questions. Register for the webinar here. Stewards are also invited to complete a brief online survey on the proposal.
If there is broad steward support for the proposal, it will be submitted to the Stewardship Ontario Administrator and to RPRA for approval. RPRA will undertake its own consultation in early 2022 prior to considering approval, which would require an amendment to the Blue Box Program Wind-Up Plan.
