Municipal and First Nation reporting under the Blue Box Regulation open for communities transitioning in 2025
As of July 1, 2023, municipalities and First Nation communities started transitioning their Blue Box programs to the new framework where producers are fully accountable and financially responsible for collecting and recycling their Blue Box materials when consumers discard them. To facilitate the transition to full producer responsibility, municipalities, First Nation communities and local service board areas are required to submit reports about their current Blue Box programs to RPRA.
Reporting is open for communities transitioning in 2025 and reports must be submitted by August 31, 2023.
This year, RPRA officers have been directly in touch with municipalities and First Nation communities to complete or review completed transition reports. If you are from a community that is transitioning in 2025 and have not received an email from RPRA, or if you require a copy of the Initial Report originally submitted by your community, please contact the Compliance Team at registry@rpra.ca or 833-600-0530.
