Changes to the Tires Regulation: Updated 2026/27 management requirements and upcoming webinars
Following the announcement of amendments to the Tires Regulation, this post provides producers with guidance on revised management requirements and invites registrants to RPRA’s webinars on the Tires Regulation amendments.
Revised management requirements
Starting with the 2026 performance year, producers must manage 80% of tires they supplied into Ontario, based on a three-year rolling average, up from 65%. The 2026 increase is not pro-rated.
No action is required from producers who did not previously have a management requirement.
Next steps for producers
RPRA has updated producers’ 2026 and 2027 management requirements in the registry using information from producers’ 2025 and 2026 annual supply reports. Producers must confirm that their revised requirements are correct and notify their PRO. PROs will only be aware of revised management requirements if a producer notifies them directly.
Step-by-step instructions have been provided to producers on how to confirm their management requirements in the registry. PROs are aware producers need to confirm their revised management requirements and are encouraged to follow up with producers who do not contact them.
Note: RPRA is not responsible for any changes to the terms and conditions of a producer’s contract with their PRO.
