New opportunities for youth within Canada’s blue economy

Earls Cove, British Columbia

As a water nation, Canada is committed to protecting 25% of the ocean by 2025, and 30% by 2030. In an effort to reach this goal, the Centre for Ocean Ventures and Entrepreneurship in Danforth has partnered with Students on Ice and other organisations to create economic opportunities for youth in the marine industry. The $2.4-million project aims to engage 2,500 youth, including international students, educators, researchers and employers, with the objective of building Canada’s sustainable blue economy.
