A second life for used PPE
Thermal Compaction Group, a company based in Wales, has found a way to turn used personal protection equipment (PPE) into almost anything. They use high-powered microwave-like machines to melt used gloves, masks, gowns, and face shields from hospitals into sterilized blocks of plastic. The plastic blocks are then sold to companies to use in 3D printers to produce items such as chairs, cutlery and home décor, diverting plastic that could take decades to decompose in a landfill.
