Dissolvable stitches that improve clothing recycling
A case study by the Ellen MacArthur Foundation highlights Resortecs, a business that has created dissolvable stitches for garments. Currently, there is a very low rate of recyclability for garments as clothing is held together with synthetic threads that must be separated and removed before recycling. This process is time-consuming and complicated and can lead to compromised clothing. However, Resortecs thread can be melted at high temperatures during processing. This allows the disassembly to be less time-consuming, cost-effective, and easier.
