California aims to ban recycling symbols on items that aren’t recyclable

Many Americans are tossing items in their blue bins with the chasing arrows symbol, only to realize that the items aren’t being recycled – because they cannot be. Therefore, California state has introduced a bill that will prohibit manufacturers from using the chasing arrows symbol that denotes recyclability on products that aren’t recyclable.  The bill will also address a loophole in state law that allows exported plastics to count towards recycling targets, even if they end up in landfills or burned overseas.
