Standardizing chargers for electronic devices to tackle e-waste in the EU

The EU has proposed a new rule that will force manufacturers to create a standardized charging port for electronic devices such as phones, tablets, cameras, headphones, and other small electronic devices. The proposal states that all smartphones sold in the EU must have USB-C charging ports to encourage consumers to re-use their existing chargers when buying a new device. With more than 30 different chargers available, having one common charging port can significantly reduce e-waste. Learn more.
