Can clear garbage bags increase waste diversion rates?
Starting February 7, 2022, The City of Orillia is implementing clear garbage bags for households and businesses. The clear bagging program aims to reduce the number of compostables and recyclables that go to landfills. If garbage bags have more than 10% of recyclables or compostable materials, they will be left at the curb with a refusal sticker explaining why the bag wasn’t picked up.
