Packaging products made from mushrooms?
Ecovative Design is a New York-based company that has designed fully compostable packaging products from mushroom roots called mycelium. Mycelium is a fungal network of threadlike cells that act like glue and can be moulded into any shape required. The mushrooms take around a week to grow, where they are then cleaned, dried and treated with heat to remove any spores or allergens before they are shaped into packaging products. Read more.
