A researcher from the University of British Columbia has developed a biodegradable cellulose film that is as strong as plastic. Using chemical processes wood fibres are broken down to create a translucent, strong, and water-resistant film, which can be used to substitute plastic coffee and snack bags, or pouches for cereal.
