University of Guelph develops line of compostable tableware

The University of Guelph has developed a line of compostable knives, forks and spoons made from waste coffee material and biopolymers. The new line of cutlery, called Ecosys Cutlery, will soon be available at several fast-food chains across Canada. The development of their eco-friendly cutlery was driven by new federal government regulation, which bans the manufacture, import and sale of single-use plastics, including cutlery, stir sticks and takeout containers.
