Dairy byproduct ‘milk permeate’ to be upcycled into biofuel

The Michigan Milk Producers Association and Canadian Dairy Distillery have launched a joint initiative to produce the lowest carbon-intensive ethanol ever produced by upcycling a lactose-rich dairy byproduct called milk permeate. Combining the permeate-based ethanol with transportation fuel will offset 14,500 tonnes of carbon annually. Read more about upcycling milk byproducts into biofuel.
