Two Alberta entrepreneurs are diverting plastic waste from landfills by converting it into new products
Tony Schoorlemmer, founder of Alberta Recycled Plastic Lumber, has created a machine that turns shredded plastic into planks. By producing 100 10-foot planks a day using 4,000 pounds of plastic, his process is upcycling Alberta garbage and preventing deforestation. Cory Saban, with his venture [Re]Waste, converts waste plastic into new products, diverting 160,000 pounds of plastic from landfills and preventing greenhouse gas emissions. These entrepreneurs are part of the effort to create a circular economy for plastics and reduce plastic waste in landfills, ultimately saving costs and resources.
