The Footwear Collective (TFC), founded in 2023, is an initiative in the footwear industry that aims to combat carbon emissions and promoting circular practices. Led by Yuly Fuentes-Medel, TFC has brought together eight members, including New Balance, On, Crocs, and Target, to identify and prioritize nearly 50 pre-competitive projects. The initiative addresses the challenges of footwear manufacturing, including complex supply chains and material compositions that hinder recycling efforts. TFC organizes its work into three pillars: circular materials, infrastructure, and consumer behavior. TFC aims to set an example for other industries to emulate.
