Pact Group, an industrial supplies company, has been awarded the Circular Economy Award by Chemistry Australia for its innovative plan to recycle the equivalent of half a billion used milk bottles annually. The process involves collecting used milk bottles and dairy containers from household recycling bins and processing them at the Circular Plastics Australia plant in Laverton, Melbourne, a joint venture with Cleanaway Waste Management. This facility can recycle up to 20,000 tonnes of plastic packaging per year, mainly high-density polyethylene and polypropylene. The recycled resin will then be used in Pact’s packaging manufacturing facilities across Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, and Perth, reducing the need for virgin plastic.
