Moment Energy, a green energy supplier based in Coquitlam, B.C., is repurposing used electric vehicle (EV) batteries into movable power units to aid Canada’s aging power grid. Founded in 2020, the company acquires batteries from automakers and integrates them into larger, rechargeable energy storage systems. By harnessing about 80% of the residual capacity of retired EV batteries, Moment Energy aims to extend their useful life and reduce environmental impact compared to traditional disposal methods.
