Pilot program replaces single-use plastics with reusable food containers
A new pilot program spearheaded by Reuse Ottawa has been introduced in local grocery stores and restaurants with the aim of reducing single-use plastics. Customers will have access to reusable containers from partnering establishments at no additional cost as long as the containers are returned to one of several collection bins within two weeks. Through the pilot, Reuse Ottawa hopes to demonstrate the scalability of a reusable container return program so it can be adapted in other areas. Read more about Reuse Ottawa’s pilot program.
