The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) has launched a six-year initiative to address the environmental impact of the fashion and construction industries. The launch event took place in Cambodia on December 9, 2024, and addressed fashion and construction sectors which contribute to pollution and greenhouse gas (GHG), among other environmental issues. Backed by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), the program promotes sustainable practices and circularity in material use, aiming to reduce waste and resource consumption. This effort is part of UNEP’s broader mission to mitigate climate change and achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. It has significant implications for businesses and policymakers in both industries, encouraging adoption of innovative and eco-friendly solutions. For more information, visit the UNEP article.
