SARCAN expands recycling program to include plastic packaging
SARCAN, Saskatchewan’s provincial recycler, has expanded its plastic recycling program to accept nearly all plastic bags and packaging. Items like Styrofoam meat trays, chip bags, and toilet paper overwraps can now be dropped off at any SARCAN location. Since launching in December, the program has collected 7,000 pounds of plastic. Customers welcome the initiative, as it covers plastics not accepted in blue bin programs. SARCAN, known for recycling beverage containers, continues to focus on refundable deposits but is now making recycling even more accessible. With various programs in place, Saskatchewan has significantly reduced waste going to landfills. Learn more about this initiative.
