Review of the Batteries and ITT/AV Supply Data Verification Procedures

RPRA consulted on the principles and methodologies used in the Batteries and ITT/AV Supply Data Verification Procedure. Producers will reference the procedure when submitting their first Supply Data Verification Report to RPRA in 2022.

The consultation was held in two phases. From September 9, 2021, to October 9, 2021, the Authority consulted with producers, PROs, and their Verifiers on the principles and methodologies used in the procedure. From January 10, 2022, to February 18, 2022, the Authority consulted on the draft procedure to gather additional feedback from stakeholders. RPRA posted the final procedure on April 25.

Update on the supply data reporting deadline: Under the Batteries and EEE Regulations, the 2022 supply reporting deadline is April 30. As the Regulator responsible for enforcing these Regulations, RPRA is giving producers until July 4 to submit their 2022 Supply Data Report.

Provide your feedback

Those directly affected by the procedure were encouraged to submit their feedback to consultations@rpra.ca. Feedback from phase one was due by October 9, 2021, and feedback from phase two was due by February 18, 2022.

RPRA considered all feedback received during the consultation when developing the Batteries and ITT/AV Supply Data Verification Procedure. Read the consultation report.

Background

Under the Batteries and Electrical and Electronic Equipment (EEE) Regulations, producers of Batteries and Information Technology, Telecommunication and Audio Visual (ITT/AV) are required to report new supply information each year in order to establish their management requirement for the following year. Supply data for batteries and ITT/AV can only be reported to RPRA by a producer in accordance with the Batteries Verification and Audit Procedure and the EEE Verification and Audit Procedure.

Starting in 2022, battery and ITT/AV producers will need to submit a verification report to verify the supply data being reported to RPRA. Producers will need to work with a qualified person to complete a verification report to verify the supply data being submitted.

The lighting supply procedure is not part of this consultation as lighting producers are not required to register until November 30, 2022. The lighting procedure will be consulted on separately.
