In February 2020, the Government of Ontario released the Batteries Regulation. RPRA held several events throughout 2020 to support affected stakeholders with their obligations.
On May 7, 2020, RPRA’s Registrar Pat Moran hosted a webinar to help producers of batteries understand their obligations. Topics included:
the definition of a producer
collection and management requirements
exemptions
reporting requirements and contractual relationships
working with producer responsibility organizations (PROs)
RPRA also presented at a webinar hosted by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) on March 11, 2020 to explain how municipalities are specifically affected by the regulation.
