100% recyclable meat tray could cut food packaging waste

meat trays

A researcher at Swansea University has created a new type of plastic packaging for raw meat, which avoids the use of pads inside the trays to soak up the liquid. Currently, the absorbent pads that sit in the tray are non-recyclable and end up in landfills. This new packaging does not involve a pad but instead has small-scale cavities that collect and trap the liquid allowing the meat to stay in place, while also meeting food safety standards. Learn more about the fully recyclable packaging.
