Emissions Reduction Alberta has awarded $8 million to Calgary Aggregate Recycling Inc. to construct a soil reuse facility. Alberta’s largest hazardous waste stream is contaminated soil, and with this recycling facility, contaminated and mixed soil can be diverted from the landfill and reused in high-demand products. The soil reuse facility is expected to be operational in the fall of 2022 and will have the capacity to recycle 600,000 tonnes of excavated construction materials annually. Read how the facility will significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
