Are four recycling bins better?
Earlier in October, Australia began the rollout of their fourth recycling bin – they already had one for organics, one for cardboard, another for plastic, and now a new bin for glass. One of Australia’s municipal environment ministers says that the rollout of the fourth bin came from the recycling industry claiming that glass put in the same bin as paper, cardboard and plastics contaminate everything that went into that bin while also causing interferences with sorting machines. Australia continues to advocate for clean streams of recycling materials but is also pushing to create less waste in the first place.
