California proposes plan for tackling microplastics
California is becoming the first U.S. state to put in place a comprehensive 22-step plan for tackling microplastics. The multi-year roadmap includes science-backed approaches and close partnerships with state agencies and external partners to reduce the introduction of microplastics in California’s coastline. More specifically, the solutions for tackling microplastics focus on eliminating plastic waste at the source; intervening within specific pathways that mobilize microplastics; and informing the public and industries of microplastics sources, impacts, and solutions.
