The government of Canada has launched a consultation on the creation of the Federal Plastics Registry to monitor and track plastic from production to end-of-life. Producers would be required to report annually on the quantity and types of plastic they introduce to the Canadian market, its movement through the economy, and how it is managed at end-of-life. The registry aims to complement existing reporting requirements, harmonize plastics data across the country, and make information openly accessible. This initiative is part of Canada’s comprehensive plan to reduce plastic pollution and transition to a circular economy. Read more about the development of a federal plastics registry.
