Cape Cod boat shrink wrap recycling program recycles 25 tons of material, a nearly 600% increase from 2019 to 2024
Cape Cod’s boat shrink wrap recycling program has successfully increased its collection from 3.6 tons in 2019 to 25 tons in 2024. The program, organized by town transfer station managers, Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Sea Grant and Cape Cod Cooperative Extension, allows Cape Cod residents to recycle boat shrink wrap at no cost, provided it’s free from other materials. Five towns — Bourne, Chatham, Falmouth, Eastham, and Wellfleet — serve as collection sites, ensuring the wrap is uncontaminated and transporting it to the Republic Services’ Materials Recovery Facility in Brockton.
