Therm Solutions Inc., a company working to decarbonize the food supply chain, has launched a carbon credit project to tackle food waste at grocery stores. The initiative aims to redirect still-edible food from over 1,300 grocery stores and 18 food distribution centers across seven U.S. states to donation centers instead of landfills. The project is expected to generate more than 112,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent in carbon credits annually by avoiding landfill emissions. The carbon credits serve as an incentive for grocers to increase food donations and help reduce hunger. Read more about Therm Solution’s food waste project.
